Alternative Family Building: Ethical, Moral and Legal issues in fertility and Reproductive Technology

Save the date for our February 2021 Salon and get a head start on reading the book we’ll discuss!

For this discussion, we are honored that attorney Nora Zuckerman, Ross & Zuckerman LLP, will provide us with an update on reproductive technology laws as well as ethical issues.  We will also discuss the book Inheritance: A Memoir of Genealogy, Paternity and Love by Dani Shapiro. Nora will discuss the legal, moral and ethical perspectives on the issues in the book, including an overview of laws in Illinois. We will have a fascinating conversation about the ethics of egg donation, sperm donation, embryo donation, and surrogacy and how families are formed and treated in the legal system and many other sectors in our society.

Nora co-founded Ross & Zuckerman LLP in 2005, where she represents Intended Parents, Donors and Surrogates in the area of egg donation, sperm donation, embryo donation, surrogacy, co-parent adoption and parentage proceedings. A long-time NCJW Chicago North Shore Section member, she is the Co-Chair of Luggage for Freedom, a project of the National Council of Jewish Women, a position she has held for the past ten years. Luggage for Freedom assists women and children residing in domestic violence shelters.
