Northbrook location, TBD
Exact date is TBD – please stay tuned.
Bear Witness. Demand Justice. Together.
Screams Before Silence sheds light on the multitude of sexual atrocities committed by Hamas terrorists during the attacks on Israel on October 7, 2023. It captures first-person testimony from survivors, first responders, eyewitnesses, released hostages, forensic experts, and advocates, all of whom share their stories mere months later. Their harrowing accounts reveal the uncompromising truth: that Hamas used rape, assault, and mutilation in a brutal rampage of gender-based violence. Led by Sheryl Sandberg, the documentary encourages viewers to bear witness, demand justice, raise our voices, and ensure the brutality of Oct. 7th never happens again.
This program is presented by NCJWCNS and the Jewish Women’s Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago. Please stay tuned for a complete list of co-sponsors, coming soon.
Please note, registration will be required (coming soon) and ID’s will be checked. Security will be provided.
More details:
Screams Before Silence is a rallying call for everyone who believes that women’s rights are not negotiable. The gender-based violence that took place on Oct. 7th must never happen again. We stand ready to bear witness to those survivors’ stories and work to build a safer, freer world.
The goal of a Screams Before Silence screening event is to lift up the silenced voices of the Oct. 7th attack, inform and equip allies with the truth, and motivate us all to demand justice. Screams Before Silence contains accounts of the Hamas’ attacks and sexual violence that may be triggering for some individuals. However, no imagery of sexual assault is shown.
Warning: Some of the testimony is very graphic and may be a triggering to survivors of sexual abuse.
National Council of Jewish Women is a partner on this film. We believe it is a powerful tool for conversation and understanding. Given the sensitive content, these screenings can offer a way for viewers to watch and process together, in community with each other.
This event is not sponsored by the Northbrook Public Library.
