Launched in 2014, Exodus aims to expose and address the aspects of this hidden and complex issue — sex trafficking in the US — with a focus on women and children through a powerful program of public awareness, education, and advocacy. Grounded in our historical experience of liberation and freedom, this initiative works to ensure our communities and laws respond to those trapped in our midst.
Launched in 2014, NCJW’s Reproductive Justice Initiative and Action Kit offers a way to learn more about key issues and the Jewish values that inspire us to act for social change, and to take action to help achieve reproductive justice — when each person will have the power to make their own informed decisions about their body, sexuality, and future regardless of race, income, sexual orientation, immigration status, or other factors. The Action Kit includes activity ideas, advocacy resources, and information for the initiative’s focus areas: (1) health equity and health coverage, information, and services, which specifically includes (2) abortion and (3) contraceptive access.
This long time NCJW initiative educates and mobilizes NCJW members, the Jewish community, and friends and allies everywhere to promote the importance of the federal judiciary and ensure that court vacancies are filled in a timely manner by nominees who are committed to constitutional values, including a woman’s right to choose.
For decades, NCJW advocates have fought for the expansion of voting rights, advocating for women’s suffrage, the historic Voting Rights Act of 1965, the Help America Vote Act of 1992, and more. Today, NCJW’s work to promote civic engagement takes the form of Promote the Vote, Protect the Vote. This exciting initiative mobilizes NCJW sections, members, and supporters to work, in accordance with the rules governing 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations, to ensure that all eligible voters are able to vote and that every vote is counted.
NCJW has been a leading organization in supporting Israel for 65 years, helping to lay the groundwork for important social change efforts in Israel. NCJW has long been committed to advancing women’s status in Israel by helping women to develop a stronger voice at all levels of society. Our work in Israel directly mirrors the organization’s efforts to create progressive social change in the US.
Today, strategic efforts like the Israel Granting Program (IGP) and NCJW’s advocacy and coalition work continue in a spirit of education and empowerment — helping to advance the lives of women, children, and families and ensure Israel’s future. To address the critical challenges still facing women in Israel today, and to promote further progressive action, NCJW emphasizes empowerment and leadership programs for women and girls as well as gender equality as the cornerstones of NCJW’s Israel Granting Program. Grant recipients include organizations and programs designed to address Israeli women’s rights LGBTQ rights, and well-being in areas like economics, politics, education, domestic violence, and social justice.
