NCJW Gives Back: October Recap

October Issue: Domestic Violence

Our service theme for October was Domestic Violence, since October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.  The Coronavirus significantly restricted peoples’ movement in order to slow the spread of the pandemic. Sadly, domestic violence against women and children increased as homes and confined living spaces have become less safe.  Our goal in October was to provide a little extra comfort for survivors.

Agency recipients: Local shelters for victims and survivors of domestic violence
NCJW’s annual “Luggage for Freedom” project collects and donates a variety of items to women and children in local shelters.  This year, because of Covid-19, that project is slightly restricted so our NCJW Gives Back group offered assistance. Here are some photos of the amazing items that were collected!  This year, the following shelters were the recipients of your amazing donations: A Safe Place, Wings, YWCA – Evanston, Sarah’s Inn. Thank you for your generosity during this difficult time.
