In 2017, more than 5,500 women traveled to Illinois to get an abortion, an increase of about 1,000 from 2016. As surrounding states broaden abortion restrictions, women come to Illinois to access legal and safe abortions.
On January 13, 2019, to commemorate the landmark decision legalizing abortion in the U.S., Roe v Wade, join NCJW to explore the history of reproductive rights in Illinois and the progressive agenda planned for the upcoming legislative session. Lorie Chaiten a reproductive rights advocate, author, and litigator will be our guest speaker.
