Spotlight Salon – Medical Aid in Dying: Autonomy at the End of Life
7:00 pm — 8:15 pm
Virtual via Zoom
This program will explore the full range of care options for people with terminal illnesses with a focus on medical aid in dying (MAID). We will hear from a panel of experts about what medical aid in dying is and is not, as well as the latest on the Illinois advocacy campaign. Please fill out the registration form below and a Zoom link will be sent to you.
The panel is comprised of the following speakers:
Amy Sherman, Midwest Advocacy Director at Compassion & Choices and co-leader of the Illinois End-of-Life Options Coalition. Amy is a policy advocate who has led several state and federal legislative campaigns. She has a background in law and public health care administration.
Nicole Daigle, Certified End-of-Life Doula. Nicole provides support and guidance to terminally ill people and their loved ones throughout the dying process. Her work includes educating people on identifying and documenting their end-of-life wishes.
Suzy Flack, Illinois advocate. Suzy is a storyteller who shares her experiences with her late son, Andrew, who had terminal cancer. Andrew opted for a peaceful death by using medical aid in dying in California in 2022. Suzy is also a semi-retired special education teacher (as was Andrew).
