Spotlight Salon: The Many Faces of Addiction

7:00 pm — 8:15 pm

Virtual, Via Zoom

What do a Jewish grandma, a Jewish teen, and your Jewish best friend’s sister all have in common? They are all at risk for addiction. What do Draft Kings, hot yoga, and your debit card all have in common? They are all sources of addiction in the Jewish community.

Far from being immune to addiction, the Jewish community has its own particular vulnerabilities. We’ll discuss these vulnerabilities, as well as how to differentiate between safe, mildly problematic, and dangerous patterns of drug use and other addictive behaviors.

We’ll also learn the best ways to protect your kids, your parents, and yourself from sliding down the slippery slope from four cups of wine at Seder to four cups at lunch every day…from betting on dreidel to bankruptcy…from Hot Yoga to Hot Mess. It’s the latest and not-so-greatest on addiction with Dr Beth Fishman, Program Manager of Addiction Services at JCFS Chicago.
