Zoom

Samira Qureshi and Kathie Bender, Chicago Regional Coordinators for Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom (SOSS), will share how they take women from two faith groups who have little, if any, contact with one another, and bring them together to create something much greater than the sum of their parts!

Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom (SOSS) is an international organization with a mission to build trust, respect, and relationships between Muslim and Jewish women. They commit to end acts of anti-Jewish and anti-Muslim sentiment, stand up for one another when hate is aimed at our communities and engage in social action work together.

SOSS started as a single, small group of Jewish and Muslim women in 2010 in New Jersey, and membership especially grew following the 2016 election. There are currently 170 chapters across the US and Canada, with 200 women in 10 chapters across the Chicagoland area, along with 400+ community members who participate in the larger events.
