Transforming Lives with Honey
Fostering Healing, Hope, and Sweet Beginnings for the New Year
At Rosh Hashanah we greet each other with Shanah tovah umtukah — May you have a good and sweet year! And yet we find ourselves at an unsettling time wondering what the future will be. How can dipping apples or challah in honey for Rosh Hashanah inspire us to help mend the brokenness and divisiveness in our world?
Join us for a fascinating look at how honey production in Chicago and the Middle East is transforming lives–and bringing healing, hope and sweetness to local communities and the world at large.
We will be joined by representatives from:
Chicago Honey Co-op – a local agricultural cooperative that keeps bees, harvests honey, and advocates for sustainable agriculture and awareness of the natural environment. www.chicagohoneycoop.com
Sweet Beginnings – an organization and apiary based in North Lawndale that provides job training for people recently released from incarceration. www.beelovebuzz.com
Building Together – a passion project that supports the creation of and collaboration between two date honey farms to build honey producing factories—one in Israel and one in Palestine www.buildingtogether.org
Rabbi Shoshanah Conover from Temple Sholom of Chicago, a passionate voice for social justice, will moderate our program.
We hope you’ll join us for this inspiring program! Registration is below. Be sure to check out these organizations’ websites—and order honey for Rosh Hashanah!
