Shared Legacies: The African-American Jewish Civil Rights Alliance

March 9, 7:00 pm

FILM SCREENING AND PANEL DISCUSSION
TUESDAY, MARCH 9 AT 7:00 PM

Shared Legacies explores the often forgotten story of the coalition and friendship between the Jewish and African-American communities from the founding of the NAACP through the Civil Rights Era to the present. Directed by Shari Rogers, Shared Legacies features an impressive array of storytellers and archival footage as it explores the normalized bigotry of the Jim Crow South, the North’s rampant bias in the areas of housing, education and employment, and the civil rights era initiatives that brought Black and Jewish leaders together to support Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision for a more just and equitable world.
