Statement from Jewish Women Leaders on the 2020 Women’s March

National Council of Jewish Women and Jewish Women of Color Marching are not official co-sponsors of this year’s march, support efforts to mobilize women to vote

WASHINGTON — National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) CEO Sheila Katz and DIMENSIONS CEO Yavilah McCoy issued the following joint statement on the 2020 Women’s March taking place on Saturday, October 17 through socially distant actions across the country:

“The National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) and Jewish Women of Color Marching (a project of DIMENSIONS) are grateful to the Women’s March organizers who invited us to the table to be part of the conversation around many of the messages of the March, including mobilization of women, people of color and marginalized communities to vote and urging the Senate to delay replacing Justice Ginsburg’s Supreme Court seat until after the inauguration. When more diverse voices are represented, our capacity to create positive change grows.

“We’re happy to support efforts that bring together people from different backgrounds in support of a common goal: promoting equality and the rights of women and other marginalized groups. Due to our nonpartisan 501(c)3 tax status and with the election already well underway we’re unable to co-sponsor the March. We look forward to participating in future events that work to promote intersectional feminism and equality for all and wish the Women’s March success in their goal to inspire more women and people of color voters.”
